What is Emiratisation?
Emiratisation is the government-led effort to increase the number of UAE Nationals in both the public and private sectors. The goal is to have UAE Nationals comprise 30 per cent of the workforce. In order to reach this target, companies based in mainland UAE with more than 50 staff are mandated to raise their Emiratisation rate by two percent each year, and one Emirati per every 50 employees.
What are the consequences of not complying?
Companies who do not meet the two percent increase will have to pay Dh72,000 for each Emirati who is not employed by end of year. With less than 50 days left, now is the time take action if your company has not already done so. This rate then increases to Dh6,000 every month in 2023 for every Emirati that is not employed.
How can I learn more?
Companies can log onto the official Nafis portal for Emiratisation to check if their company is required to comply, and by how much. In addition, here companies can find out if they’re entitled to any benefits from the government related to Emiratisation and how many.
